The Ardennes Circuit Commemoration continues to grow, attracting ever-increasing numbers of people

The Royal Automobile Club of Spa once again set up its stalls in the heart of Bastogne this weekend for the second edition of the revamped Ardennes Circuit Commemoration. This event, which goes far beyond a simple classic car rally, has opened up some very exciting prospects for the future.

By taking the reins of the Ardennes Circuit Commemoration with the aim of preserving and passing on this cornerstone of Belgian and indeed international motorsport heritage, the R.A.C. Spa, so dear to Pierre Delettre, made its intentions clear: there was no question of simply copying what had been done in the past. The goal from the outset was to develop this now annual event, transforming it into a celebration of automotive and motorcycle history and offering both participants and the public an experience that combines mechanical heritage with moments of genuine conviviality.

“After the first edition in July 2025, we were aware that some things needed to change and that there was room for innovation,” commented Pierre Delettre. “Those present this weekend were able to witness a significant evolution on many levels. For example, the cocktail reception on Saturday evening, featuring chef Julien Lapraille, perfectly illustrated how we intend to develop the concept.

“After two intense days, the feedback has been overwhelmingly positive, and we are already looking ahead to the next edition, which will take place on August 7th and 8th and will confirm the trend established this year.”

With a high-quality route designed by Eric Chapa, a professional-grade roadbook, stops in Libramont and Habay-la-Neuve where the public turned out enthusiastically, often in classic cars, a prestigious Place McAuliffe in Bastogne featuring the Drivers’ Club, the FN exhibition organised in collaboration with Ars Mechanica, the presence of Krugger and its ‘work in progress’ based on FN vehicles, and exhibitors as prestigious as the Belgian Historic Vehicle Association (BEHVA), the Spa-Francorchamps Circuit and its Museum, Spa Six Hours and many others, the 2026 edition clearly lived up to expectations.

The exhibition of vehicles on Bastogne’s main street on Sunday afternoon, together with the many additional vehicles that joined the festivities for the occasion, further contributed to the success of the event. With a friendly and welcoming atmosphere throughout the weekend, the 2026 edition was clearly a success, rewarding the organisers’ efforts.

“Rome wasn’t built in a day, and the same is true of our Ardennes Circuit Commemoration project,” continued Pierre Delettre. “With my team, we have set a direction, a course, and we intend to stick to it. Some people enjoy comparing it with the past and pointing out what is different – in short, organising things for us. Yes, for this 2026 edition, there were fewer vehicles at the start, particularly pre-war cars. We cannot force anyone to agree with us, but we remain open to feedback.

“In fact, the R.A.C. Spa is more willing than ever to work with anyone who wants to contribute. Our event will not become a gathering of experts operating in isolation, but rather an event aimed at the general public. It is about sharing a passion and passing on a heritage. Like our Drivers’ Club, we are open to both people and the future. Anyone who wishes to follow the same path is welcome.”

At the end of this edition, the Royal Automobile Club of Spa wishes to thank the City of Bastogne, everyone who contributed to the success of the event, Pascal Gérard and his team from Libramont, the Thiry family and the Masters of the Grand Feu of Habay-la-Neuve, as well as Fabrique Nationale and the Ars Mechanica Foundation.

The year 2027 will mark the 125th anniversary of the Circuit des Ardennes – plenty of inspiration for many new ideas!

The R.A.C. Spa has already decided to maintain the option for those who wish to participate in only one of the two days of the event. The participation of classic car and motorcycle owners in the Sunday afternoon exhibition on Bastogne’s main street will also be maintained, with the arrangements announced well in advance.
