A more international lineup than ever!
As announced several weeks ago, the 2026 edition of Spa Euro Race, scheduled for May 29, 30 and 31, will revive the glory days of the event organized by the Royal Automobile Club of Spa. With the FIA Formula Regional European Championship and the GB3 Championship, grids of international — and even global — stature are expected in the heart of the Belgian Ardennes.
Since its inception in the early 1990s, Spa Euro Race has welcomed countless rising motorsport stars competing in various single-seater championships. This tradition will be further reinforced at the end of May, as the 2026 edition of the RAC Spa event will feature none other than the FIA Formula Regional European Championship and the GB3 Championship as its headline acts.
The successor to FRECA, the FIA FREC is currently the most important single-seater championship outside of Grand Prix racing, which includes Formula 1 as well as FIA Formula 2 and FIA Formula 3. The 2026 season will consist of eight rounds, with Spa Euro Race hosting the third event, following the Red Bull Ring and Zandvoort. Around 30 drivers are expected to compete, representing prestigious teams such as Rodin Motorsport, Van Amersfoort Racing, R-ace GP (the reigning champions), ART Grand Prix, MP Motorsport, Prema Racing, Trident Motorsport, RPM and others.
As for the FIA FREC’s reach, it is truly global, with young talents representing Australia, Kuwait, Kazakhstan, Serbia, Lithuania, Singapore, the United Arab Emirates, Indonesia, Grenada, the United States, Brazil, Colombia, Great Britain, Norway, the Netherlands, Switzerland, France, Monaco, Italy, Poland and Japan. Who can match that?
The car used, the brand-new Tatuus T-326, will be driven at Spa-Francorchamps by talents such as Alexandre Munoz, last year’s French F4 champion; Jules Roussel, the first-ever winner of the Formula 4 World Cup on the streets of Macau; and Sebastien Wheldon, son of the late Dan Wheldon, a two-time Indy 500 winner.
In the GB3 Championship, contested with the new Tatuus MSV GB3-025, Spa Euro Race will host the second round of the season following Silverstone. At this level too, the competing teams are among the leading names in single-seater racing, including Rodin Motorsport, Hitech, Xcel Motorsport, Hillspeed, JHR Developments, Elite Motorsport, VRD Racing, Fortec Motorsports, Arden Motorsport and Nitrous Competitions ADM Racing.
On the driver side, the represented countries include Germany, Hungary, Great Britain, Australia, China, Spain, Brazil, the Philippines, South Korea, Italy, Mexico, Japan and the United States. Drivers to watch will undoubtedly include Martin Molnar, James Hedley, Maxim Rehm, as well as British driver Abbi Pulling, the 2024 F1 Academy champion.
It is therefore the future of international single-seater racing — and motorsport more broadly — that will take centre stage on the 7-kilometre Spa-Francorchamps circuit over the final weekend of May. The spectacle will be further enhanced by the Supercar Challenge, featuring a large and diverse field, the European GT Lite Challenge (formerly Lotus Cup Europe), and Caterham grids from the British Isles, France and Portugal.
And, of course, admission will be free throughout the entire weekend.
