600 points penalty following illicit recce by a team in the ‘Challenger’ category

The Legend Boucles @ Bastogne organisers had warned everyone: once again this year there is a zero tolerance when it comes to any recce on Sunday’s course, namely the forest section. As announced surveillance cameras had been installed in strategic locations, and even though the situation is calm, nonetheless certain individuals apparently decided to drive one or other forest track where the competitors will be passing this coming Sunday 2nd February.

As such following a precise enquiry, the team bearing #219, entered in the ‘Challenger’ category, with a Porsche 911 SC 3.0 Gr.4, were officially identified on the Eglantine Regularity Test section, already covered by the rally the last six years. The competitor was questioned by the organisers, admitting to the offence committed.

In accordance with Article 15 of the ‘Legend-Challenger’ sporting regulations of the Legend Boucles @ Bastogne 2020, the team concerned received a 600 points penalty, rate applied for a first infringement. At the start of the rally, the Race Director Course Etienne Massillon will notify the competitor concerned of this decision relating to the facts observed.

As a reminder, the surveillance cameras remain more than ever active during this final week prior to the rally. The video recordings of Sunday’s forest RT sections can be seen as from this Monday evening on the official site of the Legend Boucles @ Bastogne 2020, tab ‘Competitors’, followed by ‘Additional information’, then ‘Video Links Recce’.

As for Saturday’s RT, Friday will be the official recce day. Let it be known, the Police Zone Centre Ardennes are keeping a close eye on matters, for everyone’s safety and serenity, as also the event’s sustainability.
