A Dutch festival
The last international meeting at Spa-Francorchamps is of course the Racing Festival. The edition 2012 will have a strong Dutch character.
Of course we start with what we knew before as the Dutch Super Car Challenge, a series that recently changed to the Supercar Challenge, with as usual a strong starting grid. For the first time, we also welcome many Belgian teams and drivers in de the Supercar Challenge. Among the GT's and Silhouettes present, we find Corvette C6, Corvette C5, Chrysler and Dodge Viper, BMW Z4, Aston Martin, Ferrari, Porsche, Marcos...
Diederick Sijthoff is leading the championship in his Mad & Daring Corvette C6.R, but he will get strong competition from De Graaf-Ribbens in a Dodge Viper, Alex van’t Hoff in another Corvette and most likely also from Koen Wauters and Franz Lamot in a VEKA Ferrari 430 GT2. With Bert Longin racing in Navarra, the well-known racing pop star Koen Wauters will defend the Italian colors and together with Franz Lamot he will certainly fight for a podium spot.
Two other Belgian cars will be strong competitors: the BMW M3 Silhouette of Steve Vanbellingen and Bert Redant, and the Delahaye Volvo S60 Silhouette of Etienne Bordet.
Despite Stoffel Vandoorne racing in the Eurocup Formula Renault 2.0, we look very much forward to the Formula Renault 2.0 North European Cup, with again a strong Dutch delegation.
With only 60 points still to be earned and a 55-point gap between British drivers Jake Dennis and Jordan King, the 2012 title will almost certainly go to Jake Denis. We also pay attention to Josh Hill, son of F1 World Champion Damon Hill, who recently won a round at Zandvoort. KTR, entering two cars, is the only Belgian team in the series.
We also discover the BMW Cup, Zilhouette, PTC Cup and DTC Cup, racing in the Dutch championship for production cars.
Last but not least we have the Caterham Graduates bringing the made in England to the Ardennes.
