Boucles de spa : 27-28 / 03 / 2004
I spite of the rumours of cancellation, the Boucles
de Spa will take place on 27th and 28th March 2004.
Pierre Delettre, organizer, says : “Last year, I was
really discouraged and I must say that I have thought to cancel the
rally. Nowadays, it is very difficult to organize a rally. Not only for
financial problems but we receive any help and are always criticized.
But I found within the “Union Mécanisée” a lot of support and now I am
happy to continue the rally, even if it is easier and more cost-rental
to organize races, I’m attached to the Boucles de Spa”.

The rally centre stays in the
heart of Spa with podium and regroup in the gardens of the Casino.
The service park will be spread over the town.
This year the rally isn't part of the European Championship anymore.
For several reasons. The first one is that the European Championship
is now reserved to rally of coefficient 20. Than the calendar fees
are very expensive. But above all, WRC are forbidden in this
championship. And the public would have been very disappointed
because they like these “big” cars.
The show will thus be complete with all kinds of cars (Super 1600,
Group N, WRC but also Group R and the new category N-GT).
The total distance of the route has been increased to 269 Km of
stages (210 Km in 2003). There are only 4 stages covered the first
day in one direction and the second day in the opposite direction.
That means more security but also less nuisance because the recce
will be limited.
The Francorchamps stage will be kept secret until the start ! There
will be no recce for this stage. Only a "RAC signposting". A lot of
suspense ! The first stage will certainly be full of surprises.
Following this stage : Rahier-Chevron (15,3 km), a shorter version
of Stoumont., than the famous Redoute (5,5 Km) and Spa-Barisart (9,8
km), 2 famous parts of the Boucles de Spa.
On Sunday, there will be of course the stage of Francorchamps and
the 2 stages of Saturday will become Chession-Rahier (12,2km) and
Andrimont-Spa (11,6 km). Ster will be nearly exactly the same as in
2003 but completely different compared to the day before..
There will be thus 27 stages, with a total distance of 268 km, and
accessible to the public for only 20 €.
Pierre Delettre hopes reaching more than 100 competitors and
becoming the greatest rally in Belgium.
